Hi guys! Convention seasons are just about starting very soon! Since I just left architecture school, which took away all my time with anime, I have hardly any friends who are interested in anime as much as I do. And so, I need helpers! Here is an update of conventions I'll be going:

----------------------------------------------------
Confirmed Conventions Booth:
----------------------------------------------------
Fanime 2013 - May 24 to 27 - table 102
Kin-yoobi Con - August 9 to 11 - table A4 iie540.wix.com/kinyoobicon
Kintoki Con - July 26 to 28  www.kintoki-con.com/

----------------------------------------------------
Unconfirmed Conventions & Booth:
----------------------------------------------------
Japan Expo USA - August 23 to 25 www.japan-expo.org/
Anime Expo - July 4 to 7 www.anime-expo.org/

I will have great discounts of my work at these conventions, and people who come by to pick up a business card will also found a coupon code for my etsy shop. I am also arranging to make bookmarks so everyone who made purchases at my booths will get them for free.

I'm planning to attend Anime Expo just to hang out with friends and enjoy the convention. Hope to see you all there!

Helpers Get 2 Free Jewelry of their choice!
------------------------------------------------
I will be need at least 1 helper for the Kintoki Con this year, who will not only get $20 off their convention badge (by convention discount), but will also get 2 free jewelry of their choice (1 when meet at the con the first day, 1 after the last day of the con) found either at the convention or at my etsy shop www.cuteandcooldesigns.etsy.co… with a coupon code, and they will be able to venture the conventions. My shop does attract alot of potential customers so be aware that attentiveness and hard work are going to happen as I prepare the sale or make more jewelry and buttons. Contact me with a private message through Deviant Art (DA) and we can make arrangements before the convention. I live in the bay area and able to drive helpers (depending on distance). Hope to see you soon!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artists come to my tables and get 50% off of anything in my shop!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a special way for me to show my appreciation to be part of the con as artist and to support fellow artists, I sell anything on my table to artists at the conventions to get anything in my  shop at half the price. Just show your badge with the artist sticker, or if I know you, just come by. If you don't have a table, leave a comment below so that I may at least recognize your name. You don't have to have a table at the convention. So come by and have a look, or at least say hello!

I had a wonderful time having an artist booth at the Fanime. It was my first time having a sale there and so is a great friend's who I was sharing a table with ajatrese ajatrese.deviantart.com/, and with the help of jayji062 jayji062.deviantart.com/ and my sister angiechen.deviantart.com/ I had fun cosplaying as one of the Domo kun sisters artshell.deviantart.com/art/Fa…, our artist booth was only a few meters away from Yuumei! (her tumblr maid-en-china.tumblr.com/) and I got the chance to make conversation and hugged her before she lost her voice the next day, I almost walked off without paying a signed poster by Jeff Thomas azuzephre.deviantart.com/ because I forgot, it slipped his mind too but I ran back of course, and I was very fortunate to be sitting right next to talented artists Gisu gisu.deviantart.com, and Nathan Ng automaticgiraffe.deviantart.com, and I hugged the air dancing balloon man that we normally see in front of car shops. Many things sold out at my shop, that I had to make more jewelry and buttons every night at our hotel. Unfortunately, I was so busy that I didn't get a chance to venture the convention and meet other wonderful artists (So sorry you guys!). I didn't even get the chance to look at our other table where the president of Kinyoobi con was providing a demo of our up coming video game, Eternal Dragon.

I will try harder to be a little more prepared with more helpers and items in my shop so I can support more artists.

Some people have said my buttons, jewelry and postcards are the least expensive items they've seen so far at the artist alley. I'm glad to hear that as I try to see customers point of view when it comes to pricing. All my prints were made by my professional printer which provides high quality, waterproof ink (thank you Epson Workforce1100). I make my buttons with my own buttons machine to provide reasonable price for customers, and my prints on my jewelry were also printed with my printer, while my jewelry findings and glass materials were from relatives and friends from etsy to support their businesses too. I manage to pay just enough for hotel, the registrations, materials of making my work, with a little extra spending money for the dealer's hall and artist alley (harhar) and the artist table fee for Kinyoobi con and Kintoki con coming up this year! Watch me for more information coming up soon ^^

Oh yeah you guys, the game I've been working on with Kinyoobi, Eternal Dragon demo is available for free online! iie540.wix.com/eternaldragon Play it and check out the art that my sister, our friends from Kinyoobi team and I made. It is unique and awesome~!

Thank you for everyone who stop by! It was very fun and awesome!

it's been a hectic week! First, I held my very first artist alley and it was at the Kin Yoobi Con and it was great fun. It was a very nice break from home and my online shop. Sometime during the last weekend, I actually realize a few things and money isn't about everything. I'll be honest, I was kind of addicted with making money by selling as much as I can with my online shops and didn't know that I was miserable about it. So I decided to close my etsy and ebay shop down for awhile and make some rearrangements at for the shop and my home and focus on making art just for fun. For once, I want to make something original and not some fan art because I really enjoy seeing people purchasing my original art. Even though my fan art made the most sales, it just wasn't as fun and I don't want to be judged as the person who makes decent fan art. Thanks to the wonderful conversations I had with new friends at the Kin-Yoobi Con, and the great fun I had, I decided to enjoy what I love most again and that is to draw for the sake of me and not for anyone else. Although I do love making art for children and babies because they are the sweetest ^^

All in all, thank you Kin-Yoobi Con for bringing together all the coolest artist in the artist alley. It was super fun and super chill, making the best anime convention so far. I can't wait to be there again next year with all my new original art.

Cheers

Over the years of making fan art and realism (if you can call it), I came to a problem: no one looks at my realistic work or leave suggestions about it but like x1,000 of people look at my fan art. It is a real problem, especially when I really need feedback for artistic improvement. I mean, just look at my Adventure Time fan art!

I even made a deviation that hints my problem.

What's Wrong With You People!? by artshell

Solution? Fan Art realism!

It's not like I haven't done any Fan Art realism before. I made something like that years ago:

Sensing Trouble by artshell

It's time I touch that kind of style again. And to be honest, I really enjoy making those kinds of things the most because of many reasons: 1. they're almost original, 2. I probably won't get sued or get any trouble from doing them, 3. I will learn more as I draw and analyze, 4. people love it because it's their favorite characters and looks super cool, 5. I love it because they're my favorite characters and they look super cool, and last, 6. realism makes my favorite characters closer to reality. So WIN times 7.

And you know what? Abstract fan art are awesome too and I plan to do some because I really need analyze more colors and shapes. It'll be pretty cool.

Cheers!
